Welcome to Auckland, New Zealand’s largest city and a hub for shopping and dining. On arrival you will be met and transferred to your accommodation. Spend the remainder of your day relaxing or take time to explore the city. Perhaps a visit to Auckland’s vibrant waterfront and a ride on the Dockline Tram. All within walking distance from your accommodation.
Discover Auckland’s charms on a half-day tour of its scenic highlights. Travel through the city centre, along fascinating Karangahape Road and past fashionable Ponsonby, and over the Auckland Harbour Bridge. Visit the Viaduct Harbour and Auckland’s famous Queen Street before continuing to the Auckland Domain, the citys oldest park. Continue to Parnell Village and explore the boutique shops and specialty stores of this historic suburb during a morning tea break (own expense). Then travel along the scenic waterfront route of Tamaki Drive enroute to Michael Joseph Savage Memorial Park, above Mission Bay. This tranquil park offers a panoramic outlook over Auckland city and the Waitemata Harbour. Your city sights tour ends with a trip back along the waterfront to downtown Auckland.
With an early morning departure from Auckland you will be travelling southbound towards the Waitomo Caves via the city of Hamilton which sits on the banks of the Waikato River. Enjoy a guided tour of the caves with a silent boat ride through the Glowworm Grotto – a subterranean cavern lit up by the lights of thousands of tiny glowworms. Arrival at your Rotorua accommodation will be in the early afternoon. Tonight you will attend a hangi (feast) and concert, an authentic and intimate Maori experience.
This morning you will experience Maori culture and the amazing thermal wonderland at Te Puia. Te Puia is also home to the Arts and Crafts Institute where the ancient teachings of Maori ancestors have been preserved and continue to thrive. Continue on to the Rainbow Springs Nature Park, an attraction like no other. Set in 22 acres of beautiful native trees and streams you will see a huge variety of New Zealand’s most precious inhabitants including the Kiwi Conservation Centre. New Zealand’s thriving agricultural industry is on show at the Agrodome, where you will witness a sheep shearing display and sheep dog trials. The afternoon is at leisure.
Breakfast at Hotel. Check out from the hotel clear your bill and your taxi driver will report at hotel lobby for your drop to airport catch your flight Christchurch. On arrival in Christchurch, ‘The Garden City’, meet your local representative and transfer to your hotel.
Depart Christchurch and travel beside the Waimakariri River, over the Southern Alps and onto the alpine village of Arthur’s Pass before arriving in Greymouth. Travel south along the rugged West Coast to arrive at the glacier region of Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers. (B)
A full day at leisure to explore this magnificent glacier region. Optional activities include a scenic flight or guided walk on one of the glaciers. Optional activities not included in the tour price. Entry to the Glacier Hot Pools is included. (B)
Travel down the West Coast past spectacular mountain ranges, native forests and lakes to the Haast Pass, gateway to the World Heritage Westland National Park. Continue around the shores of Lake Hawea to arrive in Wanaka early afternoon. (B)
This morning a visit to Puzzling World is included before you depart Wanaka. As you enter the Kawarau Gorge, stop for an included visit at Goldfields Mining Centre and an introduction to the history of gold mining in the Otago Region. Continue to Queenstown at your leisure. (B)
Breakfast, you will have to arrive at bus terminal to catch of pick up from your hotel for full day tour of Milford sound cruise. After completion of tour the bus will drop you at the same place the tour starts, you can walk or take taxi to reach to the hotel. Overnight at Hotel.
Breakfast at Hotel. Proceed to coach terminal to catch your 3 hours’ city tour Queenstown. First stop is on the Queenstown Hill with spectacular panoramic views over the town centre, Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables Mountain Range. Next is a visit to the birth place of bungy jumping as we know it and home to the Bungy Dome, an 8-minute multimedia show that allows passive bystanders to experience the thrill of bungy jumping without taking the leap. The Bungy Centre is a state of the art facility that offers grand stand viewing of the Kawarau Suspension Bridge and of the Bungy jumping platform. Then head to Gibbston Valley for some wine tasting and cheese tasting. Then onto Kawarau Gorge where a scene from ‘Lord of the Rings – Pillars of the Kings’ was filmed. To complete the highlights of the Queenstown area, visit the picturesque town of Arrowtown which retains its old world charm through careful preservation of its colourful history and colonial style architecture. Return Gondola ride ticket as well.
After completion of city tour the bus will drop you at your pick up place and then you can carry on the optional activities or go back to hotel and relax. Overnight at Hotel.
Travel south through Central Otago to Twizel before travelling around Lake Pukaki and into Mt Cook National Park. Optional activities at Mt Cook include scenic flights, a glacier boat ride and the Sir Edmund Hillary Centre. (Optional tours not included in the tour price) (B)
Depart Mt Cook and stop on the shores of Lake Tekapo to visit the ‘Church of the Good Shepherd’. Continue across the fertile Canterbury Plains to arrive in Christchurch. (B)
